WAP Billing enables consumers to pay for digital content and services using their mobile phones. Content owners can use WAP billing for one-off site access, subscription services or selling content.

In the UK, Tanla offers WAP billing through 'Payforit', a cross-network operator initiative. 'Payforit' provides consumers with a uniform purchase experience across all sites, replicating the Internet 'click and buy' experience. It displays clear pricing, terms & conditions and merchant contact details before a purchase confirmation. Payments are no longer handled by individual content owners, but by carefully selected 'Accredited Payment Intermediaries' such as Tanla.

Payforit is compulsory on all mobile Internet purchases made by Vodafone, O2 and 3 customers, and it is anticipated that soon all networks will mandate Payforit for all mobile Internet purchases.
